The Gallery at the Lower Bucks Campus presents “Proud to Be an American,” an art exhibition on display from September 8 through November 20. The opening reception will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, September 12.
For this show’s theme, all works are patriotic in nature or make one think of America. All artist entrance fees will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit organization that helps wounded U.S. military veterans and their families. A portion of the proceeds of the sale of each piece of art will benefit Bucks County Community College scholarships.
Featured speaker at the September 12 reception will be artist Ty Hodanish¸ an impressionist painter who maintains a gallery and studio at historic Prallsville Mill in Stockton, N.J. According to his artist’s statement, Hodanish’s approach to painting borrows from the artistic traditions of the famous Cape Cod School in Provincetown, Mass., and the New Hope school of impressionism. He also teaches impressionist painting and is committed to public service.
In addition, Crossing America, a photographic print created and donated by artist Rodney Miller from Artsbridge, will be raffled off with all proceeds going to the Wounded Warrior Project. Tickets are $1 each and $5 for six, and can be purchased at the front desk of the Lower Bucks Campus. The drawing will be held at 8 p.m. on September 12. You need not be present to win.
The Gallery at the Lower Bucks Campus offers accessible and affordable cultural opportunities to the lower Bucks County community, increases visibility and awareness of the arts and local artists, and raises resources for Bucks County Community College and its students.
